I am very happy to give my insights on the importance of art for the development of Batangas Province. First of all, art triggers social cohesion thereby inviting people from different walks of life to participate in art appreciation, especially those created by young souls. I want to commend the leadership of Mr. Gilbert Rosales and Mr. Eric Punzalan of Studio Angeli in organizing the art exhibition called My Favorite Things.
Secondly, art and art expressions can open critical dialogues by depicting social and economic conditions that need the attention of various sectors of the society such as the government, private sector, the church, academe and the civic society. The recent typhoon Kristine rendered many Batanguenos homeless and their plight maybe the subject of socially-oriented art to awaken interests.
Thirdly, art can be a source of livelihood for new and seasoned artists. And for art collectors, art pieces can be worthy investments as their value appreciate overtime.
